Personnage célèbre de l'histoire américaine, enlevée au Texas à 9 ans et adoptée par les Comanches, elle fut pleinement indianisée. Elle se maria et eut deux enfants avec son mari Indien, chef guerrier reconnu. Retrouvée et récupérée par sa famille blanche, elle essaya obstinément de s’enfuir et finit par se laisser mourir de faim.
